We are sailing in a month or a so on the Noordam and our first stop is Ponta Delgada in the Azores. We are likely to just wander around town. Can anyone recommend a nice lunch spot? Also, are there any local specialties that we ought to sample? Thanks!

Hi there,
There are a lot of restaurants to choose from at Ponta Delgada. Near the port (walking distance) we would recommend "Restaurante São Pedro" right next to the church in front of the cruise terminal (http://www.restaurantesaopedro.com/), "Restaurante O Corisco" near the city gates(http://www.ocorisco.com/), "Alcides" also in the city gates area (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=pt-PT&sl=pt&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alcides.eu%2F), etc. Not to mention other restaurants around and fast food.
If you're looking for great variety, then you should try "Cais 20", which is better to take a cab (5 minutes).
There are also some choices right on the cruise terminal, if you don't wish to go far.
Best regards,
Thank you so very much. There is no substitute for local knowledge.
