For Panama Canal cruise, the weather around the Canal Zone is quite predictable: expect at least 50% chance for rain, and December is the start of their dry season, and November is near the end of the wet season.

Temperature would be warm around 80F+ day time, and humid. The Coral Princess is a PanaMax size ship, meaning it is the maximum size that would fit in the current lock system. They are building a new (and much larger) lock system so PanaMax maybe a thing of the past. When going through teh lock,s youa re talking about literally inches (okay, maybe a foot) from scraping the wall.

The ship hold about 2000 passengers and has lots of public area so it doesn't feel crowded. If you want a balcony cabin, make sure you book it for the higher decks for privacy. The decor and layout is very typical Princess. The Coral is about 10 years old and nicely decorated. You will find info on the Coral Princess on the Fodors link below.

Are you planing a round trip or full transit? Eitehr way, the approach to the lock is very early in the morning. We were up at 5 a.m. so we can watch the whole approach at the front of the ship starting around 6. Best location to watch the approach: deck 10 and 11 forward oper area. You have to look for it, it is sort of on the deck plan.

There are 2 school of thoughts on the Canal. One is go ashore and take excursison, teh otehr is stay on baord and enjoy the passage/transit. What I would recommend would be based on if you are going round trip or full transit.
