We are in the process of planning our honeymoon to Portugal this June. We want to see different parts of the country without it becoming too hectic of a vacation. We enjoy cities and culture as well as relaxation and wine! Here is our itinerary so far.

Day 1 Lisbon
Day 2 Lisbon, possibly a day trip to Cascais?
Day 3 Lisbon, day trip to Sintra
Day 4 Lisbon
Day 5 travel to Porto
Day 6 Porto
Day 7 river cruise to the Duoro Valley (stay the night?)
Day 8 Porto
Day 9 travel back to Lisbon
Day 10 travel to Santa Cruz/Areias do Seixo or the Algarve region?
Day 11 Areias do Seixo or Algarve?
Day 12 Areias do Seixo or Algarve?
Day 13 Areias do Seixo or Algarve?
Day 14 travel back to Lisbon
Day 15 fly home from Lisbon

After Lisbon, we plan to take the train to Porto and spend 4 days in Porto/Duoro Valley. Any recommendations on where to stay or any restaurant or attractions that should not be missed? We are looking at staying at the InterContinental in Porto. We don't know if it would be better to do one overnight trip to Duoro Valley with a river cruise or if we should rent a car in Porto.

Lastly, instead of heading south to the beaches, we are thinking of staying at an eco friendly resort near Santa Cruz. Very small and private. I have been to Capri and am from the Laguna Beach, California area originally, so I wasn't sure if making the trip down to the Algarve region is worth it. I hear mixed things about the beaches, food and culture.

Any advice on "must sees" or things that you found overrated is much appreciated!
