I've just started looking into traveling from London to Istanbul by train this summer. (The man in seat 61 is my primary source of info for this. I want his job.) Sounds like a fabulous trip - except now I see that the train isn't running right now from the border into Istanbul. Does anyone know how long the bus ride is? I plan on flying back to London after my stay in Turkey. The train travel is a big component of my desire to make this trip. In case it matters at all, I am a single woman and will be traveling alone. Thoughts/suggestions appreciated!

Bulgaria is found between Romania and Turkey, so there is no Romanian/Turkish border. Check it out on Google map.
seat61 says the bus is a bit faster than the train. bahn.de will have the schedule.
Years ago I saw the north bound bus on hold at the Bulgarian/Romanian border as the police searched all passengers. They were all gypsies. Quite a show! Others in line said that they had been there for a day waiting to get into Romania.
I suggest that you investigate the possibility of a ferry from Constanta. Maybe take a couple of days layover in Varna or Burgas on the way.
