I will look at getting the 8.40 am train from Rome
to Bari arriving 2pm so would it be possible to
head to port and buy a ticket for the sailing
later that day ...not a cabin just a seat

This post solve in a way as i got
a good priced ferry from Anacona
to Split and so opened up another
avenue
Split to Dubrovnik via islands then
bus to Belgrade and train to Bucharest
with some time in Romania then back
thru Zargreb and finaly back to Rome
via Venice and Florence
So that sorts that
