We are going to Iceland over New Year's Eve for about 6 days. Is it worth it to rent a car? I know it is expensive and I think we could do better with tours or other transportation when there. Thanks!

If you are expert driver, familiar with icy roads, during almost hurricane storms, in the dark, on gravel roads, sleet, rain, potholes, and are not in a hurry, then rent.
On the other hand why not wait untill you get here, and then decide?.

Iceland was affordable shortly after the depreciation but prices have readjusted to what it was before. You do need a car to get around outside Reykjavik. I rented from Sixt early last year but their prices are the same as anyone else. You could try Europcar too. cc car rental iceland
