When I was in Madrid in 2000, one of my classmates oftenused to go to discos.
My nephew, who's 40-ish, is planning on visiting Barcelona in July. He enjoys night life, and I'm wondering if anyone knows any "discos" or other dance venues in Barcelona.
Discos or dance venues in Barcelona?

Does he care if they are gay or not?
I think barcelona is a pretty lively city. He should look in a guidebook like Timeout, they have stuff like that in it and are pretty reliable in their recommendations.

He's not gay, but I'd say he's gay-friendly. He's good buddies with his gay cousin.
Christina, I'll tell him about Timeout.
I'd ask one of the staff at hotel because they will now the popular places and be able to give him the names of the top places at the moment.
He may look into these quite updated sites:

I can recommend the vibrant El Born area. Lots of great bars, clubs, cafés in and around very popular Passeig del Born. Barroc is one of many fine, small places where things goes on to 3 am in the weekdays and 5-6 in the week-ends. http://www.barroc-cafe.com/en/
