Helping our friend plan his one week solo trip to Ireland in April. He wants to go to Dublin & Dingle, flying into Dublin and home from Shannon. He doesn't want to take a group tour. But he does hope to meet and mingle and enjoy Celtic music and good food. He doesn't mind driving alone though he appreciates it would be easier with a companion to navigate.
I remember our very long (7 hour) stressful drive from Dublin to Dingle Town ten years ago and so I'm wondering if anyone can perhaps suggest a train route from Dublin to, Limerick or Tralee (or via some other point), where he could pick up a rental car to use for Dingle, perhaps Ennis, Cliffs of Moher (other West Coast suggestions) for a few days before returning the car to the airport at Shannon.

Try getting the train from Dublin to Killarney or the stop near Kerry Airport. Go Bus from Dublin Airport to Galway then a bus to Shannon Airport.
There is a whole lot more to Ireland than a peninsula that makes up just 4% of the Islands area. The beginning of April this year is Easter so Dingle will be tourist central.
