What's the big deal about going up in the Eiffel Tower at night? I would presume to look at the city lights as you obviously are in the tower so can't be looking at it, in which case just go to Montparnasse Tower to the top floor, I'm sure that will be open. YOu have a great view up there.

I have never heard of any way to get official tickets other than from them, they don't sell them elsewhere, there is no other authorized vendor. There are probably scalpers somewhere. There are some tours or packages that include the Eiffel Tower, and at night, they would most likely be something like a Seine cruise and dinner in the Eiffel Tower (at the cheaper restaurant). But you could do that yourself, cheaper. I think the group tours that are the tower only and other things are only in the day time, anyway.

So which restaurant are you asking about in the tower, they have more than one? I'm sure you know one is very expensive and if it bothers you that your husband might have to wear a jacket in there, I don't think that would be the thing for you. That restaurant will run you hundreds of euros for dinne r for a couple (Jules Verne), if your goal is just to see the lights, go to Montparnasse. He wouldn't have to wear a jacket in the other cheaper Eiffel Tower restaurant.

The website seems down but I thought they were supposed to be open by now. You could check somehow, or call. If they are closed, then I'd go back to the Montparnasse tower idea.

We had dinner at Jules Verne last October. It was quite the experience. The service was impeccable, the views stunning. The food was the only thing we found lacking, although they were wonderful about making changes to accommodate my friend, who is a vegetarian. We spent about 4 hours at dinner. We were 2 couples, neither of the men wore jackets but were wearing slacks and dress shirts, no ties. I wish I could say were the least dressy people there (there were men in jackets and ties) but there was a table near us that both men had on jeans and collared sport shirts ( the first couple spent quite some time texting from their table, while waiting for the other couple, but that's another thread). As far as price, with 2 bottles of wine and the prix fix menu for all and tip, it was approximately $375 a person.

Montparnasee is a great alternate to view the city light AND you actually get to see the Eiffel Tower lit up as well in the panorama. The views from the Trucadero will provide you with wonderful site line and great pictures. We actually hopped on the metro one night (from our apartment in Le Marias) up to the Trucadero just to see the lights twinkle!

Christina - The reason to go up the tower at night was this will probably be our last time in Paris for while, My husband has cronic kidney disease and yes we can get his dialysis in Paris but it is very expensive...therefore this will probably be our last trip until he can get a transplant.. I want it to be special ..

Are there other places to have dinner and get the view ? I will look around for that

We had lunch at Jules Verne before it's new reincarnation. I have to say I'd prefer the daytime view. And the price is much better--more manageable.
