I totally agree! We brought a Garmin from home, and "girlfriend" is working out really well, except for today when we plugged in co-ordinates instead of an address, and went about 15 minutes out of our way.
This morning she got us through Galway without a wrong move, something I couldn't have done!

I thought of sugarmaple when I saw this header and happy to see SugarM posted and that the Garmin is working. I will be "road" testing my new Garmin 2475 next month in Italy.

We didn't end up with the 2475 after all.
My daughter's bf was being "helpful" and got us one he saw on Kijiji for $50 without asking us.
I didn't have the heart to tell him we were planning on getting a new one, so we paid him for it, tested it going to Niagara on the Lake.
Despite my reservations about the whole GPS thing, I wouldn't travel anywhere without one now.

Hi Guys. Just want to ask u a question regarding these gps devices from Garmin: at this point I'm using a mobile phone with a Gps system on it. It is a phone specially created to work as a gps not using the internet, but the satelites as a regular gps device. I live in Ireland and since I've started to use this phone as a GPS for my car I went over an annoyng problem: it seems that in Dublin and other countys there are plenty of adresses wich look like: 5 marrion square park, or adresses without a proper name and number for a street. My device is a weak one and it's not so smart and it can't localize these adresses. Do you know if any of the Garmin GPS models is able to do that? To be more explicit: can you give him a spot as a lake, mountain etc to get u there???

I can use city center, a crossroads, a street address or just a street name with my TomToms. Or a landmark such as park, hospital etc that's nearby. By Post code too.
I can also use latitude and longitude. If latitude and longitude are not known, you can easily find them using Google Earth ahead of time.
Your device should have at least some of these options.
That's right. It has the option of searching a location by coordinates as lat. & long. I'll try to see how it works. Thanks
