We will be in Lucerne from 5.00pm until 1.00pm the following day in July.
Trying to do a quick trip up Mt Pilatus, we will have a car.
Are we best to drive to Alpnachstad and use the Gog Railway or are we better to use aerial cableway from Kriens.
I have been before 20 yrs ago but the other 3 traveling haven't.
All suggestions welcome

Why the driving? The full experience is only with the round trip: boat to Alpnachstad, cog-train to Pilatus, cable car/gondola to Kriens, bus back. Ok, you can replace the boat with train if the schedule is not ok for you. But I would not just do what you plan - doesn't save much time anyway.

Check their website. the rountrip should be about 3 hours in total.
