We plan to visit family in Slovenia this winter and wanted to tack on 7 days somewhere else. After talking to family and puttering around internet message boards, I came up with an idea. What do you all think?
Day 1: Fly from Cincinnati to Lisbon, train(?) to Cascais
Day 2: Cascais, recover, relax, eat, etc, dinner with cousin
Day 3: Cascais, mountain biking in natural park
Day 4: Cascais to Lisbon, take Easyjet to Venice
Day 5: Putter around Venice
Day 6: Putter around Venice
Day 7: Travel from Venice to Ljubljana (bus, train or family will pick up)
Day 8: Visit with Slovene family
Day 9: Visit with Slovene family, cross country skiing
Day 10: Visit with Slovene family -- see cousins at Lake Bled?
Day 11: Visit with Slovene family
Day 12: Visit with Slovene family
Day 13: Get from Slovenia to Lisbon (either via Paris or go back through Venice), fly from Lisbon to Cincinnati

It probably would be cheaper to book an open jaw arriving in Portugal and returning from Venice or maybe Vienna, rather than looking for cheap flights back to Lisbon.
Michael, thanks! I had searched for a multi-city trip from home to Lisbon to Venice to home, and that was much more expensive. But the home to Lisbon, and then the Venice to home open jaw was even a little less expensive than a round trip from home to Lisbon. Easyjet goes from Lisbon to Venice. Don't think we'll be going very far north so Venice is better than Vienna. Sounds good!
