Hi all, I'm going to be taking a guided tour of Turkey in June, ending up in Istanbul. I'd like to take a short 3 day trip to somewhere near by., preferably an island. I was hoping to go to Santorini but it is expensive ($500+ for a flight). The flight to Rhodes is more reasonable ($325). Any other recommendations?? I'm open to a short cruise as well, but can't find any info on short cruises. Thanks for any help / advice!!

Instead of flying to the islands via Athens, you can fly to Dalaman Airport and from there go to Marmaris and ferry to Rhodes.
Another option would be to fly to Izmir, go to Cesme and from there by boat to Chios, which is a wonderful island.
Haven't checked on prices, but i am sure it will cost less than flying via Athens.
Rhodes or Chios are good choices. Rhodes is much livelier but if you like a really laid back place Chios might suit you with the Mastic villages of Pyrgi and Mesta being especially unique. Rhodes is much larger and offers many more attractions and the Old Town is spectacular (I've been six times). Both are easy to get to from Istanbul by air and ferry combination.
