Ultimately, questions like these are rather insulting. The posting person is asking the board to research the trip for him/her on topics for which information is easily available throughout the internet and in any bookstore. Thus, our time must be less valuable than yours.
Do your own research first.
Red Square in Moscow and the Hermitage in Petersburg, but you should know this already !
buy a guidebook to gain basic understanding of the country you will visit and then come back here and ask specific questions which fodorites will be glad to answer
All of the ones listed in the dozen of guidebooks and innumerable online resources.
If you intend to go there, surely you have a reason why.
I have done research but there is so much to see. I was hoping for must see responses. Sorry to take up your time.
in st pete---every bldg is unbelievable..
have not been to moscow
reetk,
Try giving a little background info to elicit some helpful responses.
Something like:
"I will have 7 nights in Moscow and 4 nights in St. Petersburg and so far have come up with (A, B, C, D, E, F & G).
Am I missing anything you consider a 'must see' for the amount of time I will have?"
We'll definitely need more details. One person's 'must see' might be another person's 'give it a miss'.
We are going on a riverboat cruise. In St Petersburg a visit to the Hermitage, Catherine's Palace, and city tour are included. We will have 3 afternoons free to do our own thing.
In Moscow a city tour and a tour of the Kremlin are included. We will have 1 and 1/2 days on our own.
Hope this helps .
Thanks!!
The Russian museum. Please read this to get some background

There are two painters Repin and Bakst who are unmissable.

I would take the hydrofoil out to Peterhof--it's wonderful to approach it from the water. If the fountains are on it's an added bonus.
You have to tell us what YOU want to see.
I can list 50 Do not Miss Places ...BUT those are MY Do Not Miss Places.
We did a river cruise a while back. If you click on my name you can get to my trip report which included things we did while we had free time. Have a great trip!
