My dad and I are going on a cruise this summer of the Scandinavias. The excustion we really want to go on in sweden is to see the Vasa Museum. There are two tours that go there and to Gamla Stan. The only diffrence between the two is that one also visits livrustkammaren(Royal Armory) and the other visits Stadahuset (city Hall). Dioes anyone have any opinions on which might be a better option?

Both are worthwhile but the City Hall is unique and a real treasure. You'll visit the room where the Nobel banquet is held for the award winners. You'll see beautiful handpainted ceilings, and art, even a room decorated in gold. It is situated on the water with a nice park area out front. The armory is similar to those in other countries, not so unique, knights in armour,etc. Swedish friends highly that recommended we include City Hall and we were so glad that we did. You'll enjoy the VASA Museum too.
We enjoyed our tour of City Hall and our guide was excellent.
I haven't seen the Royal Armory, but thought City Hall unique and very well worth a visit. Enjoy!
Unless you are tremendously interested in arms I would definitely go for the City Hall - which is historic and fascinating.
Another vote for the City Hall Tour.
And after the tour go up in the elevator to the top of the tower.

Another vote for the City Hall tour. I have an interest in past royals and set up a lot of my itinerary to visit/see royal sites. The Armory was the most lackluster part of my royal itinerary. I loved the City Hall tour.
another vote for City Hall. We loved seeing the room where the Nobel dinner is held. We also loved going to the top of the Tower (if it is open).
There is also a nice garden on the water if you have extra time to kill you can just hang out there and enjoy the weather -
Loved Stockholm - the Vasa is amazing!
among city halls I have seen, Stockholm's is exceptionally unique. When you walk into the hall it's breathtaking...we boarded the little boat to Drottningholm palace from the little dock in the back of the hall.

My son had done a project on the Vasa, so we had learned all about why it didn't rot for hundreds of years and how they had to spray it with water and chemicals for 15 years and other random facts... It made the visit that much more interesting!
I'd like to sign up for that ride!
It is also interesting how they lifted the Vasa out of the water.. you would be surpised what some of the Engineers were thinking in the late 50's !!!
Definitely watch the Vasa video. I was fascinated that they were able to capture the recovery on video!
I have not visited either the armory or City Hall but would choose City Hall.
