Haven't seen this question in the forums. Are there any pools to workout in Rome?
We are a family of swimmers. I know it might sound crazy that we want to find a pool to swim laps in while in Rome, but to be honest we meet interesting people with things in common when we go to the local pools while travelling . But I have looked up many sites trying to find a pool for "Masters" swimming as well as lap swimming and have had very little luck. Anyone know where I can look?
Thank you!

Great post. We are there in May, we gave up on any ideas of a central hotel with a pool due to the silly prices. We have an apartment but would love a pool.
We aim to head for the beaches south of the airport for a swim, they look good.
Interested to hear other thoughts.
Hi there! We stayed at the Westin in Rome and they had a pool, but I do not think it was big enough for you to really get a good workout in with swimming laps.
The Westin looks like a nice pool but not quite what we need. Looking for a 25m or 50m long pool. I know they had the Worlds in 2009 so there had to be some swimmers in town!
Usually "masters" swimmers (those over a certain age) are an active and welcoming bunch but I can't seem to tap into anY information about them in Rome. I'll keep looking and keep you posted!

(Sorry, I'm not a swimmer, so can't be sure these are relevant)
There's a river that runs lengthwise through the city . . . not thinking it's real swimmable, though.

What about: http://www.timeout.com/rome/sport-health-fitness/venue/1%3A7147/cavalieri-hilton
104 pools in the area. You'll have to click through the list to see if any work for you (they only list 10 per page).

Swim caps were mandatory last time I swam in Rome, but it's been several years.

.
Not only swimmable but also diveable unless a little pollution and its after-effects worries you

The river in February is not an option for us!! (Though it will be tough to keep my husband out, he has swum the Straits of Mackinac and that is cold).
I have seen lists of pools in Rome, my challenge is trying to find an indoor ,25 or 50m pool with lap swimming or masters team that works out, and I don't speak Italian! I see there are places with pools, but one has to by a membership to use it or they do not have open swimming for laps open to the general public.
pizzocchieri thank you http://www.corsinuotoroma.com/i-master looks promising, nothing on their masters page (coming soon) but it's a start!
Jilldavis, that Westin pool looks nice, not quite what we need but that spa sure might come in handy!
