Hotel Almira in Istanbul is offering transfer from the IST airport to their hotel for 35 Euros (we are two people). Is that a fair deal, or should be take a taxi. Anyway to find out what an appropriate taxi fare should be? I have read about the taxi drivers there and don't want to be duped into overpaying. Thanks.
Taxi Fare from IST to Sultanamet area?

From my experience, that seems pretty reasonable. Plus it's just nice to have someone there waiting for you. I have found taxis at the airport to be tricky. If you wait in the taxi queue you can wait and wait. Most people just grab one of the taxis that have just deposited departing passengers, so they never end up in the taxi queue line.
We had several nightmare experiences with the taxis in Istanbul , take the hotel up on the ride you will be glad you did!!! Price not out of line.
...or you could take Metro/tram for about €1 each in the same amount of time...
Based on this and advice on my other posting, I'm going to use the hotel's tranfer service. We're in our 60's and my husband is long past the adventure of using the public metro with bags in tow after a 12 hour flight into a new country. I dare say he won't even do this for London arrival and we know our way around that system quite well! I wouldn't even dare ask him about Istanbul. Thanks all.
