First, 2 days is not enough to see much of Rome - I would want at least 4 days (5 nights) for a first visit.

For these visits to mountain tops you have not take the weather into account. They are tall enough that the tops are in the clouds - so you can have days that are sunny in the valley - but where you can only see a couple of feet in front of you at the mountain top - so no point in visiting, On a trip in June to Interlaken we had to stay 3 days before getting one with the Jungfrau being clear.

Separately, you are trying to stuff too many sights into each day. You need to look at the time you will need to see each sight. Ascending the Jungfrau, seeing the sights there and returning to the valley will take at least 5 hours and possiblt more.

Can't imagine how you will se Mt Pilatus and Mt Titlus in one day.

Also - what about all of the other sights besides the mountain tops. Have you no interest in the castles, churches, towns and lakes of Switzerland.

You really need to either cut back your destinations or add days.

Oh - and I don;t know if your first day is possible- since I don't know when you arrive. And your final day is doable only if you plane leaves at night.

I think you should get a map and just look at the the distance. For instance
"12th : Tirano to Milan. Visit duomo in Milan. Contnue to Pisa. Visit leaning Tower and then reach Rome by evening." A visit to the Duomo would logically require a walk around the interior plus the roof is exceptional. I guess 2 hours unless you have any real interest. To the north of the Duomo is a pretty famous shopping terrace with some internal shopping area. I would struggle to not offer up a little time to these shops.
Pisa, do you want to go up the tower as well as just look at it? You do know that the tower is in a field with another great work right next to it and a major museum to one side? Why not have a peak inside?

I'd be exhausted by now and I would be looking for my supper but then you want to go to Rome, get into the city centre, find a hotel and then eat.

You really need to check out travel times as well.

Go to bahn.de to get train scheduled for all of europe - it will help you understand why your fantasy won't work.

12th is about impossible. Just to do Tirano-Milano-Pisa-Roma you would be spending 9 hours or more on trains. Cut out Pisa and you will cut your train time in half.

I completely agree with nytraveler. 2 days is not enough in Rome. It is such a beautiful city steeped in history, you will want more time. My wife and I spent 4 full days there in 2010 during our 3 week tour of Italy and we can't wait to go back and see what we missed.

I realize my travel plan is definitely not done with proper study. I will revise it. Firstly our tickets are booked and we can not increase total number of days, but as you suggested, not to plan too many trips on mountains. Instead we spend time on scenic train routes and lake cruises. I am revising plan for your valuable advise on it.

11th June : Arrive early morning at Zurich and travel upto Tirano.
12th : Tirano-Milan-3hours halt at Milan-Pisa. Over night at Pisa.
13th : visit leaning tower and then proceed to Rome. Reach by lunch time.
14th : Rome
15th : Rome
16th : Fly to Geneva and travel to Chamonix. If mountains are clear then go up or stay in valley for night.
17th : chamonix to Martigny-Montreax-Zeissmann-Interlaken. If time permits than a lake cruise. Overnight at Interlaken.
18th : Jungfraugh or Schiltron. Else Trümmelbach Falls and lake cruise
19th : Luzern area. Either Mt Titlis or Mt Pilatus and lake luzern cruise. Reach Zurich Airport by late evening. Overnight in hotel near airport.
20th : Flyback in the morning.

This gives us 2.5 days at Rome. First of all we are not very keen to see any Museums as we do not have patience. Vatican museum we may see as it is very important. We would like to see Colosseum, but not interested in Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (Ancient Rome). We are aged couple and can not walk long distances. Trevi fountain and Piaza Novo—are other thing we would like to see. We may see 2 or 3 additional cathedrals which are beautiful. We need your advise on this. Pl advise if anything important is missed out.

Better, but forget Pisa and head to Rome. I will never understand why people feel a need to go see that silly leaning tower - that's all it is. Pisa itself is actually a fairly interesting town, but all people do is go and take stupid pictures of themselves "holding up the tower." Ridiculous.

I don't consider the Vatican museums a must-see, either. For me, they are nothing more than a tribute to the extreme excesses of the Catholic church. The Sistene Chapel is of course a marvelous site, but I'd rather see San Pietro in Vincoli or the Pantheon or any number of smaller, "less important" venues in Rome. And frankly, if you don't have patience for museums, the Vatican isn't for you, as it's huge and usually crowded beyond belief.

The Trevi fountain will take all of 10 minutes, if that. I don't know what you mean by Piaza Nuovo - Piazza Navona? Sure, that's a popular and beautiful spot, but there are beautiful sites all over Rome, even if you don't want to go clambering over the Roman ruins. If you have a good guidebook for Rome, you should be able to focus on some sites that would interest you and be easy to navigate.

As suggested, I will drop visit to Pisa and travel direct from Milan to Rome on 12th June.

In rome, I wish to visit St Peters Basilica. and if posssible sistine chappel( If it is not a big hassel to buy tickets in queue or walk a mong distane).
Can you suggest a route from Termini to St Peters Basilica ( Either bus or train) where we do not have to walk a lot.

Then we wish to visit collesium, Pantheon, Trevi Fountai, and Piaza Navona.

If any one can chart out a route for us covering these places and suggest possible metro or bus route, then it will be most helpful for us
Next day we will concentrate on other places like San Pietro in Vincoli and other beatiful monuments.

Chatur, I am not an expert on transportation in Rome, but I believe the most efficient way to get to St. Peter's from Termini is to take metro line A to Ottaviana. You will then need to walk a bit, so will need a good map of Rome (which you should have anyway). Any decent guidebook will outline walks you can take within the city to see the sights and will include information about transportation. There is a bus, number 110 I believe, that leaves from Termini and takes you around the city past the main sights, with commentary. That might be the way to start your visit, with a guided overview.

The fastest way from Termini to St. Peter's is bus #64. Be very careful to your belongings as it is the line most targeted by pickpockets.
