Hello friends,
I'm from India.I have a TYPE D MULTI ENTRY STUDENT VISA FOR FRANCE.Valid for 1 year from October 2012 to October 2013.But I couldn't join the course on time due to some issues at home.I wouldn't be able to study in France this year ,however,I would like to know if i can use my visa to travel Europe (France,Spain and Italy) during Feb-March 2013.Or should i cancel my visa and apply for a Schengen tourist visa?
Thanks.

I am not an expert on French visas - and you need an expert to advise you before trying to do this.
However, I believe that your student visa is valid only if you are attending the course. The school may well have informed authorities that you did not register/turn up for the course and the visa you have may well no longer be valid at all. (It is obviously not valid in the legal sense, but it may also be listed as not valid and you could be deported on the spot - with potential issues for every getting another visa. Also, without a valid visa the airline may not even allow you to board the plane to France.)
And if you do plan on studying there in the future shouldn't you be careful not to flaunt the rules.
