We are a couple in our late 20s travelling to Europe, into Paris on 4th July (from Perth. Australia) and out of Paris in 9th august(got a really cheap flight with air mauritius).
I would like feedback on my current plan if it is too full on. I want to see so many places in so little time!
Essential stops: amalfi coast from 5-8th august for a friends wedding.
Interests: me - picturesque towns, anything French, walking, good food and Santorini!
Husband- hiking/walking, ancient sites, castles
Current plan: all flights except second last one are with easyjet as Ryanair flights not released yet for these dates
-4,5, 6 july Paris (we've been before)
- 7th, fly to Prague. Spend 7 and 8th there. 9th in cesky krumlov, 10 and 11th Vienna
-12th Vienna to London Gatwick. Pick up car . 12th in Salisbury(for Stonehenge). See other henges the next day on way to bath.13 and 14th bath, 15 and 16 south Wales for castles , 17? Bristol.
- 18th bristol to Nice. 3 nights Nice with side trips to Monaco, St Tropez . 2 night in the Nice hinterland, 2 nights for gorges du verdon.
-25th nice to Rome (to ser family, have been many times before)
-28 Rome to Athens . 28, 29, 30 Athens. 31, 1,2, 3 Santorini.
-4th august. Santorini to Naples (found a direct flight with an airline is never heard before)
?1 night Naples or head straight for Sorrento.
Leave for Paris on 8th, fly our to Mauritiuos on 9th where we have 3 night to relax before returning to Perth!
We've travelled at this pace before but moved around by train. I'm not sure how stressful it will be with the planes.
All these flights will only cost us $1300 AUD for 2 people

first have you checked what it will cost you for luggage or are you intending to just travel hand luggage only?

Well, the Greek portion of your trip looks okay. What is the name of the airline you have never heard of before? Are there any ratings or reviews in Skytrax?

why are you flying from Rome to to Athens and then from there to Naples when Naples is only 2 hours by train from Rome
Have you calculated the overall travel time for Paris-Prague, Cesky-Krumlov and Vienna-London (including time to get to/from airports and check-in requirements)? You'll only have one full day each in Prague and Vienna. Not enough time, IMO.
Following on unclegus' comment, why not go Paris-London by train at the front end to eliminate one of your longer intra-Europe flights?
Trace out your route with a pencil on a map and see how the route crosses over itself multiple times. Try to reorder so that it ends up as linear as possible before going back to Paris for your flight home.
That said, if all your flights are booked, why'd you even ask about the itinerary?

I have never heard of it but it is a fairly new airline,I would check out the reviews above.

WOW? That includes the return flight from/to Australia? Mind if I ask how you found that if not direct on airlines' website? I'm going to Europe myself this year and can't even find a single return ticket that low let alone all the additional flights you are taking. Although just make sure with Ryanair you've seen the full price incl taxes etc (when I went Barcelona to Milan last year they advertised it for $19 but after all the additional stuff - not luggage - ended up being $110)
As for the itinerary, personally seems a bit too rushed for mine because you are doing mostly major cities which I think need more time (even if you've been there before) - especially Vienna which is beautiful (and guess what thats one city where I did cutback on the days spent and regret it immensely)! And of course with so many flights there's a fairly high risk that at least one 'arrival day' will be completely ruined by a plane delay or other mishap.
PS: Since you like walking AND picturesque towns I'd definitely try and fit in the Cinque Terre if you can (and haven't been before) and sacrifice something else.

no the return fares from Perth to Paris were extra, the $1300 was cost of internal flights, mainly with easy jet but including all luggage

- 4th July arrive in Paris
- 6th July leave paris for Nice and the cote d'azur, 7 week in this area with hire car
- 13th July- Nice to Basel, train to Freiburg.
- 13, 14 july- freiburg for black forest to do some hikes
- 15 July- Fussen for Neiwenstein castle (sorry about the spelling but you know what i mean!)
- 16, 17, July- Munich and drop off car.
- 18, 19 Salzburg (train from Munich)
- 20, 21 Hallsatt (train from salzburg) for country walking
- 22nd train Salzbur to Praugue 22, 23, 24th Prague
- 25th Prague to Rome
= 28th Rome to Athens, 1 week in Greece
- SAntorini to Naples for wedding 4 nights in Sorrento
- Naples to Paris for flight home.

still a lot of Kms and I don't know how sceinic the south of germany will be- the stretch between Freiburg and Munich is 500km (with a stop near fussen)

Ahh phew, thought I was getting ripped off.
As for your revised itinerary, well more relaxed in the major cities so that change I like...and Salzburg is a good replacement for Vienna which I love. Think it makes sense to remove the UK leg too...would have been too much backtracking.
I made a quick check and I am fairly sure you are OK with rental car drop-offs. But, remember, there is no or a small drop-off charge if you pick up and drop off the car in the same country. There usually is a major drop-off charge if the pick-up and drop-off are in different countries.
Before you reserve your rental car, be sure you read up on various rental companies in trip advsory travel sites. There are some companies (Terstappen - Dollar etc.) that are real rip-offs. I,and others have had good experiences with Gemut(www.gemut.com).They specialize on Germany and Austria rentals and are price competitive. Check comments about them.
