We are planning to take our daughter and son-in-law to either Paris or Hong Kong for Christmas, 2013. By that time, our daughter will have a 5 month old child so we'll have an infant on the trip as well.
While my wife and I have both been to Paris and Hong Kong, we've not been there at Christmas. If anyone has been to these two cities at Christmas time to be able to make a comparison, that would be most appreciated; however, if someone has been only to one of the cities, your comments are appreciated as well.
I will cross post this to the China forum.
Would Paris or Hong Kong be better for Christmas, 2013?

I love both Paris and Hong Kong but I think I would rather celebrate in Paris.
Paris at Christmas would be beautiful. It's on my bucket list.
Are apples or pears better?
Hong Kong will be much warmer than Paris in winter. Hong Kong will be shirt-sleeve days while Paris is as cold as north America.
Since you are taking your daughter and son-in-law, why not let them choose which city they will be more interested in visiting?
We've been to both - really like Hong Kong and Love Paris. For Christmas, I would choose Paris. I also think it would be easier in Paris with an infant.
Kerouac nailed it.
What connection to "Christmas" would there be in Hong Kong. It is also sprawling and endless with little charm, plenty of exoticness, of course.
But in the end, let the children decide as others have suggested.
Thank you for your comments, one and all. Yes, the decision will be theirs. I just wanted some feedback. Interestingly, the posting on the Europe forum goes for Paris. It seems to go the other way on the Hong Kong posting!
