I never see people mentioning any of the local ethnic festivals and events here in Paris, even though they are just as much part of Parisian culture as sitting at a café with a glass of wine. I understand that just about everybody comes to Paris to see "French things" rather than non-French happenings, but for example Chinese New Year is celebrated in Paris just as much by people with absolutely no Asian ancestry as the main target group.
The annual parade in the 13th arrondissement was last Sunday, and I whizzed by there just before the main event started to make this short report: http://tinyurl.com/ayuqofh

What a colorful report! I especially liked the entertainment via the video at the end. Thanks, k!
Bright and cold. Vegetarian lions, who knew?!
We went with our granddaughters to an Asian festiva at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts yesterday. There were wonderful lion dancers from the University of Virginia, but sadly no fireworks!
Lots of opportunities to try Asian art techniques, though, like block printing and painting ceramics and so on. But no fireworks.
Thank you for sharing. I will have to go there for some good Asian food next month.
