I'm having a very odd problem. When I log in, primarily in the Asia forum], I see what seems to be up to date listing - but when I click on a post to read the reples I am taken back in time to January 12.
For example, when I click on Crag's recent Myanmar/Burma post - which has 17 replies and counting - I get only the original topic post and no replies. As well, when I look to the column of posts on the left, ALL the posts have reverted back to sometime in the early hours of January 12,
It seems that, once I click on a post - that's it. The post remains frozen at the time I click on it. It never alters.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to read a response to this one, either. I've tried logging out and in, no change. Strange but true.
Let's do the time warp...

Dogster, I just went to the Asia Forum and clicked on the Myanmar/Burma thread and I was able to read all of the replies. I tried a couple of other threads and could read all the posts too.
Well, I know there's a response to my plea - but I can't read it. The moment I clicked on it I was taken back in time to the moment I first posted it, as have all the other posts.
Very frustrating. I think there's a message here somewhere...
As this board isn't flooded with similar complaints, I'm guessing that it's the fault of my 'puter. Everything else works fine.
Ahhh, having replied to I knew not what, I can now read LoveItaly's response...
curiouser and curiouser...
You might try emptying the cache on your computer.

O.K. Kathie - will do.
[as you see, I still have to reply to an invisible answer in order to read it]
Total failure. You know, in my naivety, I thought that perhaps - just perhaps - someone from Fodor's would actually reply to this post. Stupid me.
Well, I'm going to Buddhist about this. Clearly, it's a sign. Move on Dogster, move on.
All things must pass.
dogster - perhaps you can read this? Perhaps you've vanished like the Cheshire Cat? Anyway, it's the weekend (I know it's hard to keep up while you're traveling) and you're unlikely to get an answer before Monday morning, eastern time. You could also try emailing - forums@fodors.com.
Wow! Mine is all good dogster. I hope you are back up 100% asap.
i wonder if it has something to do with that glitch you had b4 when you had to change your user id ?
Argh-h-h. Of course, I have to reply before I can read. lol. Then, after I read the reply, the post freezes again and remains, trapped in time. One step forward, one step back. It's about as frustrating as it's possible to be. I must get a life.
Hi thursday, yup - I just realised it's the weekend. In dog-time, all days are the same - indeed, as you'll well understand, I've just spent three months with no idea what day it was at all. Such is the travelling life.
jacket, I'm slowly realising it's just my 'puter, not the site. You're on the right track. Some dog-killing worm is crawling thru the machine and I'm having the distinct feeling nothing is gonna fix it, short of a lobotomy.
I'm still in Bangkok. I spent this afternoon cruising the computer shops. I sense a retail moment is imminent.
Then Dogster will return in all his mongrel glory.
Try hitting the refresh on your browser.
Have you tried closing out of your browser? That should help "unlock" the browser.
It's not your computer, it's your browser.
Basically, what is happening is that your browser is remembering the webpage as it was the last time you visited it. Doing a refresh, tells the browser to dump that old image of the page and show the newest version.
You might also want to go into your browser settings and set it to erase your history upon closing the browser - that will force the old image of a webpage from reloading when you open your browser the next time.

Thanks so much for your time toedtoes. Hitting the refresh does nuttin'. Each time I log in, I get the up-to-date posts - it's only when I attempt to reply that the problem occurs.
Oddly, this problem only exists on Fodor's.
I've thought more about buying a new 'puter. I don't think I'm about to spend rather a lot of $$ just to come in here. It ain't that fabulous, particularly since the thought-police came in. I'll wait till I get home and try my other 'puters.
But I do thank you for trying to help. Alas, I'm too stupid to know how to erase my history upon closing the browser. I can erase everything - but that's a little drastic.
The beat goes on...
dogster - if you're using Firefox do the following:
Click on Tools at the top of your browser screen.
Click on Options
Click on Privacy and select "Clear history when Firefox closes"
Click save and close Firefox.
If you're using Internet Explorer, can't help but should be something similar. If you're using Safari, good luck.
Clearing the history alone won't do it, I don't think. I had a similar problem years ago on a PC running IE. You need to go to preferences and empty the cache.
Use google or bing to ask how to empty the cache.
Well, I'd like to think dear Amy waved her magic wand, removed the fatwa she'd put on me and cleared the way to renewed Fodor's glory but actually, I just switched hotels and now it all works perfectly.
What does it all mean? Nothing, probably, other than if you stay at Tenface in Bangkok [highly recommended BTW] your Fodor's adventures will be curtailed - but if you move to the Arnoma, {just very, very cheap and much more convenient] Fodo-bliss will be yours.
Now I will return to my customary curmudeoncy. I thank you all for your kind assistance.
Whew! I am glad you switched hotels. For a while I thought to start a dogster PC drive.
Glad to have you back, dogster!
