I'm thinking about booking a trip for my wife and I and a several other couples. We are all pretty adventurous and under 33, but not everyone is a great snorkeler or diver.
Which Belize resort has the best off the beach snorkeling? I went to Negril and there was decent(medium density coral and fish) reef snorkeling about 100yards off shore in about 20ft of water, so I was looking for something similar to that.
I've also been looking at Grand Cayman and Cozumel for the same reasons, but I've always really wanted to go to Belize.
Thanks,
Craig

We had the best snorkeling we've ever done in Belize, but we had to go out to the reef to do it. Around a lot of the resorts there is sea grass in the water that limits visibility. At Hol Chan, we saw huge rays, sea turtles, nurse sharks, and beautiful tropical colored fish.
On far north Ambergris Caye, you have walk in snorkeling at Tranquility Bay Resort. It's a nice place, but, far from town. Dining options will be limited.
Southwater Caye would work as well, also, it's much smaller and cheaper neighbor, Tobacco Caye.
There's also the atolls, which I honestly know little about.
What, unfortunately, you won't find in Belize, is walk in snorkeling in close proximity to any beach towns.
If you tell us when you're planning to be there, your general budget, and if you're interested in mainland adventures like caving, hiking, and visiting Maya sites we can help you better.
Oh - and how many nights you're planning.
Hey there, if you are looking for something completely unique and spectacular check out www.lighthousereef.travel or www.gloversreef.travel. These are 2 pretty amazing places to snorkel. Cheers!
