My husband and I are hoping to go to Belize in January. We are using our frequent flyer miles to get there, but I am not too sure how to book the rest. I know we want to do 3 nights in the rainforest and 4 nights on Ambergris Caye, and booking the hotels myself is not a problem. But I'm not sure about airport transfers and flying to Ambergris Caye after our stay in the rainforest. Should I just go through a travel agent to book everything? If so, what is a good agency to book through? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I've done it both ways. Since I don't like putting my credit card number out through e-mail, it got to be a hassle doing international faxes to some of the hotels. Most hotels on Ambergris Caye will be glad to arrange your domestic flights for you. That said, I've done it over the internet and never had a problem. All the reservations were in order and we simply paid when we got to Belize.
Barb of Barb's Belize is very helpful. Everything she booked was the way it was supposed to be, both hotels, rental cars and flights.
I would guess we'll use her again when we venture to spots we haven't been, but just book our trips to Ambergris Caye ourselves.
Barb's Belize (www.barbsbelize.com) and Katie Valk (www.belize-trips.com) are the two to look at, if you want to use an agent. They are really the only travel agents who know Belize well and consistently post helpful information on-line.

I used Katie and would recommend her for flight arrangements.
