Pueblo Bonito Sunset is on the Pacific side, and the beach there is not swimmable. Pueblo Bonito has two other resorts on the Sea of Cortez side that have swimmable beaches.

The only swimmable beach in the Cabo area is Medano Beach right in town. I'm no expert on timeshare resorts, but look for one that is right on Medano.

It sounds like you really aren't that into Cabo, but it's really quite nice. I went in with a lot of preconceived notions my first trip ('lifestyles of the rich and famous' 'too touristy' etc.) but ended up having a great time.

La Paz is a wonderful city on the other side of the peninsula, but a completely different experience. Much less tourist ammenities there and the beaches in town are not swimmable there either. Just depends what you are looking for.

Both the Pueblo Bonito Blanco and Pueblo Bonito Rose are on Medano Beach, as are the Villa Del Palmar and Villa del Arco. All four of these resorts are within walking distance to "town."

We are going for the first time to Cabo this month. Have been to PV once and the Caribbean side of Mexico numerous times. My concern would be going in a March. Cabo appears to be a major Spring Break destination. More so than Cancun. Something to check into if that would be an issue for you.

I do not think Cabo is a more major spring break destination than Cancun. I just happened to be there in that timeframe my one trip, except for a few beach bars and peaking into the nightclubs I didn't see any 'girls gone wild' kind of thing. Those two Pueblo properties are pretty high-end, I doubt they'd draw a spring break crowd??

I didn't think of the spring break aspect, but it is something to look into. We're not big nightlifers, definitely not 'clubbers', unless it's a good rock club. We were in Turks last year and I just loved being able to go from beach chair to water to beach chair, yada yada. Not looking to swim, per se, just go into the water and hang out and cool off. Is March good as far as warm (beach) weather? Everyone who goes there does seem to give it a good report.

Do you think La Paz is a place where you would want to stay, or is it more of a day trip kind of thing? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this area...

Spring Break to me = crowds. Not just partiers. We've been to Cancun in a April and it was full of families and kids. The bars were full of young adults. Not acting crazy or wild, but everything was just so crowded. Looking at the hotels reviews on TA when we were researching, I found lots of comments about Spring Break crowds during February, March and April. Personally, it would not be my choice. Unfornately, my birthday is in April, so sometimes I get stuck going to destinations during that time if I really want to celebrate it.

Cabo will be the opposite of Turks & Cacios. T & C has fabuolous white sand beaches and crystal clear water. It's laid back and quite. We really didn't like it as it was way too boring for us. We chose Cabo because of the numerous resturants and bars and things to see and do around that area, which reminds us of Playa del Carmen. We are not really beach people and prefer the hotels pool. Was happy to see that most hotel pools are heated on this side of Mexico.

I don't know what to say KVR, I was only in Cabo once and it was during that time of year, and that was jsut not my experience. Everything was not "so crowded". I was staying right downtown at Mar de Cortez, near the bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

So certainly I'm sure it depends where you stay, where you go, what you do, but I would not advise someone to avoid Cabo San Lucas for the very best months of the year!

We have been to Cabo several times during the Easter break. It wasn't outrageously crowded, you just had to secure dinner reservations for special places ahead of time, say, for Easter brunch. We stay at Sunset Beach and love it. We go to the sister resorts on a shuttle bus, Blanco and Rose, if we want to be on the beach or do water sports or hang around town. As pointed out above, the Villa del Palmar properties are also on Medano Beach.

Ah! The Truks Z& Caicos are indeed special/ Stayed On Provadecials in the late 60/s So undeveloped. One hotel/restaurant plus a marina
Right out of a Hemingway tale.
Alas no more with Club Med & much else.
Anyways the best, most swimable beaches start just outside of La Paz down the gorgeous East Cape. Still only lightly developed.

Suze, I didn't advise anyone not to go to Cabo or any other destination during that time of year. I just suggested that they may want to check into it and research further as it can be a possibility if that is something that would bother them. Personally, it would bother me and I wouldn't do it if I had a choice, but that's me. I'm sorry you misunderstood what I was trying to say.

SuzieQ, Cabo is a must see, I lived there for a couple of years selling Timeshare!! I used to work at Playa Grande on the Pacific side, just down from Sunset. If jumping into the ocean without having to make a trip downtown is important to you, don't stay at Sunset although the accommodations are lovely. Play Grande is much more convenient because it's located within walking distance of the Marina (which is where you'll want to spend most of your time)and the local beach. From the Marina, if you'd like to take a trip by Taxi Boat, it'll take you to Medano Beach or Lovers Beach.
With your Timeshare I would suggest either Rose or Blanco (both directly on Medano beach). Del Palmar I would definitely not recommend and if you can get in, Del Arco is probably the best though keep in mind, much further up Medano Beach than where the action is, well not that far, still within walking distance.
I have so much more information, I could go on and on, haha! If by chance you guys are golfers, let me know and I can get you a great package on golf and all your Cabo Activities at cost. I wish you the best, but mostly just enjoy. Oh and it's nothing like Cancun during Spring Break, you'll love it!
Also, if you rent a car ask where Santa Maria Beach is and take a short drive, it's lovely.

Agree with lizmccaslin on Santa Maria Bay~it's a fairly protected cove with gentle surf and good snorkling. Be sure you take drinks and sunscreen with you. It's been a few years since I've been there, but the last time I was there, amenities were non-existant.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound argumentative and didn't misunderstand your point KVR. Just saying from my own personal experience there was no spring break crowd that overran Cabo when I was there at that time of year.

IF crowds or other tourists are an issue definitely you would be better off choosing La Paz. It's very quiet there (the name means "peace" -lol).

Just wanted to add that we returned from Cabo San Lucas yesterday. Absolutely loved it. The food was beyond wonderful at our AI hotel and other restuarants that we went to. Much better than anthing we ever found in Playa del Carmen.

The only down side is we couldn't walk 2 feet without someone trying to sell us something nor could we eat in peace at some restaurants. It became so annoying that I just wanted to hold up a sign as we walked along; "I'm not buying anything. Leave me alone". It would not deter us from going again though.

We loved being on the Marina and within walking distance to everything, but it your are looking for peace and quite I wouldn't stay directly in that area. I'm working on a trip report and pics. Will post soon.

KVR, Thanks so much for checking in!! I also loved my one trip to Cabo San Lucas. I found many amazing meals there. Actually never a bad one.

Personally I did not like the Marina area specifically for the reasons you describe. Both in restaurants and on the street people were just really pushy there. I didn't find that in other areas of Cabo, so next time maybe do try a slightly different location to stay.

Thanks Suze, but no way. We so loved being right in the middle of everything within walking distance. Yes, some of the people were annoying, but it wouldn't deter us from staying their again. We loved the Marina Fiesta and would definatly stay there again. We did go down to Medano Beach. We didn't like having to walk in the sand to get to everything.

We also met up with MichelleY and her husband. Very sweet couple. So glad we got to meet them in person.

I wasn't very clear, sorry. I stayed right downtown too, at the Mar de Cortez hotel. It's only a few blocks from the Marina but has an entirely different feeling when you are on the other (inland) side of the main boulevard. No timeshare, less touristy, more local feeling.

Michelle, so sorry to hear that. We missed our connection in Dallas coming home due to AA's delay and they couldn't get us on another flight. We ended up renting a car and driving to 6 hours to home after having to spend the night in Dallas. Our pic together turned out great. I trying to get everything posted. Hopefully tomorrow. Have a better trip home than we did.

I still haven't booked this trip...procrastination is my speciality these days. We are looking at the Grand Mayan in San Jose Del Cabo or one of the Pueblo Bonitos in Cabo San Lucas. Has anyone stayed at either of these locations/properties?

I have stayed at Pueblo Bonito Blanco and Sunset Beach and love both of them. I would never stay at a Mayan property- bad experience in PV. Plus, if you are not an owner, your room will not be ocean front.

What jumps out at me is the too resort names. Pueblo Bonito Blanco and Sunset Beach always get fantastic reviews. No one likes the Mayan properties. They are well-known to the the worst among the worst as far as timeshare high pressure sales presentations (not just in Los Cabos in all their locations0.

Michelle and Suze,since you are both saying the same thing, I will end up booking one of the PB's. I was planning on mid April, now the hubber wants to go in September. No wonder I never end up booking this! Thanks for the help. (One of the threads I read called it "cryin' at the Mayan'" Guess that's a clue!

September will be hellish hot and humid. April would be much better weather wise.
