We have been visiting Belize the past 3 years to snorkel. If anyone has snorkeled around any of the atolls in the past 6 months and had made prior trips to Belize in the past 2-3 years could they comment on whether the conditions are less or worse now.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, not better, like the rest of the coral around the world. Perhaps we have fared a bit better than others due to conservation efforts, but we all are and will continue to be affected by global warming, islands of garbage floating on the sea, chemical run off, overfishing in intl waters, killing of sharks-our apex creatures, etc. GoogleDr Melanie Mc Field's finding about the state of our reef. Very interesting and informative. Well worth reading. But I snorkel and dive and am atill more amazed by the underwater world, than dismayed, by what I see. So yes, its good.
