We are in the process of arranging a third trip to Costa Rica. However, since our last trip, one of our children has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. We want to weigh our location choices against their closeness to reputable hospitals. We're not necessarily making our decision based on that but it is definitely a factor. Are all the private hospitals in San Jose? I had heard at one point they were building one in Guanacaste but can't find details.

If we were way out in Montezuma or somewhere.....are there adequate hospitals nearby?

We don't expect we will need to access any of them, but we need to be aware because things can change very rapidly with unforeseen sicknesses.

We're also curious about the ease of getting prescriptions in the event we lost/broke her insulin vials or needed to secure something as an emergency.

Anyone have any experience with this?
