I just got back from a family/ business trip to el salvador:
good:
the new courtyard by marriott hotel at the gran via mall is excellent: beautiful, new, clean, modern, safe and just steps form the gran via mall. its around $85 a night , thats half the price of the hilton princess hotel
playa salinitas is spectacular; its a great beach in the western part of the country south of the commercial pier at acajutla and west of the town of sonsanate. we stayed at a place called the the oasis lodge which is just north of the decameron. you can see lots of tropical fish around the rocks at low tide.
it wasnt nearly as hot as i thought it would be and i didnt get any insect bites.
