We want to rent for a month in Costa Rica, Pacific side. We would like to be near the beach/ocean and also a town that would have a Farmers Market each week & grocery. We will not be renting a car, so are looking for an area where we could walk to beach/ocean/town. We enjoy walking so that isn't a problem. Would be nice to be on or within a 10 minute walk of beach, longer walks to town would be just fine.
We do not need information on airports, transportation, activities, etc. We have done some checking on VRBO and HomeAway.com, mostly in the Puntarenas areas. Are there other areas that someone could suggest. If you can give us the name of a town or towns that would have Farmer Markets each week, we will do the research on the rentals. However if you have rented a certian place that you found "to be perfect" would appreciate the name. We have read some very good reviews on Fodor's. Thank You for any information you have for us.

I would start any search with the macro which means learning an area on gmaps.
You should look into the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area. There is a great farmer's market every Friday and Saturday in Quepos. Taxis are readily available everywhere, or you can walk, or there is a reliable public bus that runs for around 50 cents. The beaches in MA are beautiful! Dominical or Uvita a little further south are nice as well.
Thanks for the information.
The Manuel Antonio/Quepos area you suggested mangoemily, is great, love that the farmers market is both Friday and Saturday. One concern about that area is reading about the "hills" to go up and down to get to beaches.
The gmap suggestion, Katzgar is a good idea. We do know the areas of Costa Rica, been to most of the "main attractions" such as volcanos, waterfalls, etc. Unless I am missing something, I don't think I can get the Farmers Markets on it. Just want to go sit by beach, enjoy the mountian views, beautiful flowers,be able to walk to beach and a local town. What we don't know is which small towns along the way have Farmer Markets. Remember going to one close to San Jose years ago, but don't plan on staying in that area this time.
Appreciate both of you taking time to give us help.
you will be amazed at what a google search can turn up

There is a farmer's market every Saturday in Uvita.
Tully- do you know if there are farmers markets in other nearby towns on different days? We have been going to the Uvita/Ojochal area for years but we always travel Sat-Sat so we always miss the Uvita market, and the produce at the BM Uvita is often dismal. If you have other suggestions for good fresh produce in the area I would love to know! Thanks,
Amy
You are right Katzgar, thanks for the link, enjoyed reading it, and will try using that "google" more often. Appreciate your suggestion tully. Will be checking out some places soon.
