Trip Report Great Family Vacattion in Panama

Jump to last reply

We just came back from a couple of weeks in Panama. It was way more than what we expected.
We visited four areas of Panama, (two weeks was not enough time).

Panama City:
Lodging: We stayed at the Gamboa Rainforest resort.
Service was average but the kids love the place: big swimming pool and the surroundings are gorgeous.

Activities:
In this area we used the services of the Gamboa Resort and of a local tour Company Sendero Panama.

Gamboa Aerial tram: we didnt see much but still, the views from the top of the tower is fantastic. Long walk to the top, not recommended for elder people.

Gamboa Night tour: this was fun, we saw capibaras (large rodent), crocodiles and some night birds.

Sendero Panama Visit to Embera tribe: amazing experience, the village, the people, teh waterfall, see my kids interact and play with the embera kids; priceless.

Sendero Panama Wildside of Panama Canal: a eye opening experience for my family, in this day we learn so much about the Panama Canal, how it works, and the nature part of it. Did´nt expect to see so much wildlife in the canal. Monkeys, crocodiles, toucans, sloths and a ton of birds. We also visited the Canal locks visitor center and saw the transit of ships trought the locks; a nice add to that day.

Sendero Panama Bike ride in San Lorenzo: This day also included a train ride from Panama to Colon, and riding mountain bikes under the canopy of a beautiful forest with the sounds of monkeys and birds, just beautiful. Also visited the ruins of a Spanish fort and learn about the colonial history of Panama.

Azuero Peninsula: We stayed with friends there and just explored around, beautiful land and beautiful people.

Boquete: We stayed at Panamonte hotel. Just georgeus place, friendly staff and amazing food.

Boquete Tree Trek Zip Line: Fun and safe. Plus we saw a Quetzal.

Panama Rafter river rafting: Amazing white water rafting,my kids love every second of it.

Sendero Panama Nature Walk in Boquete: We walked a trail that ended in a waterfall. saw a Quetzal and many other birds.

Bocas del Toro: We stayed at Playa Tortuga hotel. service was regular but it was kid friendly and had a swimming pool for the kids.

Sendero Panama Bastimentos National Park: This day we visited a Ngobe tribe were we walked a nature trail, found colorful poison frogs and more monkeys. The rest of the day we did snorkeing in different areas, mangroves, coral reef.

Bastimentos Red Frof beach: this day we did it on our own, just a relaxing day in a beautiful beach. It did rain, so make sure to have your raincoats.
