I am thinking of going to Panama for 6 nights--not a lot of time. I am wondering if we should spend all the nights in Panama City and do day trips from there, or spend half the time in Panama City at a boutique hotel and then the other half in a hotel like the Radisson, outside of town, to have a pool and relaxation option.

www.gamboaresort.com
Radisson Decapolis
Would beenough for me in the time you have.
If you want some beach isla-contadora.com
very nice.
I was considering the Gamboa resort, but the most recent reviews really seem pretty bad.
My best memories of our trip to Panama are the two nights we spent in the San Blas Islands. Sort of a hassle to get to, but, a memorable experience.
For a hotel in Panama City, try The Canal House - excellent and good location - you want to stay in Casco Viejo (old part of the city). If you want a beach for a few nights as well try the Bristol Buenaventura which is a few hours drive from Panama City. Hope this helps. Latin odyssey
