We'll be in CR for 15 days mid Dec to Jan. On Jan 1 we fly in to Pto Jimenez. Before catching a ride down to our hotel Bosque del Cabo, we wanted to take a morning excursion out of PJ to the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary. This seemed a good idea to me since we arrive at PJ at 9 am, and the Sanctuary tour offered by Bosque del Cabo takes 45 minutes to drive from the bottom of the peninsula back to PJ ...and their prices are high.
I have tried to gather info online about boats going to the Sanctuary, have emailed the OWS directly but no reply yet. Any info on getting a boat round trip would be very helpful. W tought that we'd be back in PJ by 1 or so and then get a ride (any idea of taxi costs?) to Bosque.

I would check with Bosque del Cabo and see if they'll arrange it for you. They arranged our boat for us, as well as transportation to and from the lodge. Seems like you would need the same thing but only transportation one way.
If the folks at Bosque can't set up something for a reasonable price, there should be some other local operators in Puerto Jiminez that can give you a price. If only 2 people wish to head out across the gulf to the sanctuary,it can get a bit pricey,vs sharing the transport with another party.Last time a couple of years ago, when I was in PJ,I hired a boat, but also went to the Rio Esquinas, and looked around for dolfins-sort of a tour of Golfo Dulce for the morning and a boxed lunch.Maybe google Puerto Jiminez tours,or look at the website for Iguana Lodge to get some more ideas.Bosque has an office in town that you can leave bags and use as your starting off point as the dock is a short walk from their office past a grove of trees along the shore that is usually frequented by many scarlet macaws-heavenly!
As for getting back out to Bosque,as you know they charge 30.00 pp return as a transfer fee-would this trip out to the lodge after your tour be the first half of that fee?
We will be back down to Puerto Jiminez and Bosque in a few weeks, and are looking forward to our return-it's gem of a place! We also plan to do our boat activities(offshore fishing this time) out of PJ prior to our transfer to Bosque to avoid the taxi fees back and forth fom town.
Thanks. I just sent an email to Everyday Adventures and Toucan Travel to see if they can put us together with others going to the Sanctuary on Jan 1. It seemed a waste of time to drive down to Bosque and have them drive us back up to PJ (with transportation costs) another day to take a tour we could get directly from PJ. . Ya, I know they charge this transfer fee. Maybe this is my first cultural encounter.
