Ticket prices ???

We are going to fly to Cancun January 4 and back January 11 from Chicago.
When is the best time to buy tickets?
I monitor prices on the weekly basis and it seems like prices are slowly going down.
Should I wait or should I buy? What the tendency for this time of the year?
