We are going to fly to Cancun January 4 and back January 11 from Chicago.
When is the best time to buy tickets?
I monitor prices on the weekly basis and it seems like prices are slowly going down.
Should I wait or should I buy? What the tendency for this time of the year?
Thank you.

That's a tough call .. we always fly into Cancun in January from Boston, and usually buy our tickets in November. The prices usually seem to be good then. However, American is currently running a sale on Mexico flights. I believe that Bing's airfare site has a 'price predictor' built into it for what it's worth.
We fly in February and I buy in July or August for the best price. If its under $600, I'd buy now. As it gets colder, more people will start thinking winter vacation and the price will go up.
