We were bringing Fido with us as we traveled by car to Mexico. No one site had the same info and the Mexican Consulate said I needed no paperwork and I went and spoke to them in person. USDA had a form which would only be approved after the vet visit (my vet charged $25) but took them 48 hours and $38 to return, and thie exam could only be done within 5 days of entering the country,plus documentation on shots. So trying to prepare for a 6 week trip in the last 5 days have to get fido to the vet, get the USDA form approved and hope it gets to me in time and I was working with Sat/Sun in the calendar.

My question had been thoughout the maze of paperwork was where in the process will this be needed? Border crossing? I have nothing to declare so drive right through the checkpoint. Customs? No one asked. Returning home to US? they only want to be sure the dog is vaccinated.

At the least have documentation that you own the pet, has shots and looks presentable.
