A friend has been offered a job teaching in Bogota, how safe is it today?
Can anyone living there give us a true picture of the situation. Can a woman
go around by public transportation, or is it a must to do it by taxi, can she walk around,
or there are areas with are tabu. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Bogota how safe is it.

Go there a fair amount do not live there
Super nice in the north around the aiport
great residential area around the Sheraton
and Marriott downtown and south can get dodgy druggy
travel.state.gov lays risk out well.
virtualtourist.com
hospitalityclub.org
good local hook ups if no one else posts up here.
I might work in the safe residential area in the north
otherwise probably not.
Taking the appropriate precautions anyone can live very well in Bogota
I agree with lacasaamarilla. I remember my time living in Colombia with fond memories. The people are some of the nicest in South America and the typical food, little known, outside of Colombia, is excellent. The coffee, of course, is superb. Each country and city has its own safety pattern which you soon pick up living there.
