We'll be crossing the border (with luggage) from the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls to the Brazilian side. (FYI, we have our visas for Brazil)
1. Can the taxi that takes us from our hotel in Puerto Iguazu (Arg) take us across the border to our hotel in Foz (Bra)?
2. If not, will it be easy to get taxi to hotel on Brazilian side?
3. How do we choose a safe, reliable taxi?
4. How much should we expect to pay - 2 people, one small suitcase each?

We did the same transfer last year - we took a cab from the airport to the Sheraton and talked to the driver about taking us to the Brazilian side two days later. He had no trouble crossing the border and charged us a reasonable amount (I'll check my notes - but it was cheaper than the transfer the Sheraton concierge was going to organize). We set a time with him for pick up and he was there early.
Thanks Elizabeth - would love that info. Did he take you to a hotel or airport on Brazilian side?
There are also buses, which you can pick up at the border if necessary.
We stayed four nights in Foz, and one day caught a public bus to and from the Argentinian side of the falls. We had to stop at the border for passport control both ways, which was quite fun and gave the opportunity to talk with locals, but we noticed that taxis seemed to just pass through without stopping. You catch the next bus that comes by, from the same company.
There's a very good central bus station in Foz, which we used every day, as our hotel was a bit out of town.
Another day, from Foz, we caught the bus to Ciudad del Este, but missed getting out where we should for passport control. This was a bit worrying from my point of view, but fortunately, we didn't get caught - and Ciudad del Este is so different from both Brazil and Argentina, that it is well worth the excitement.
