We will be in Chile in jan.2014 . Our cruise departs from Valparaiso and we would like to do some hiking in the area. We are in our 60's and enjoy easy hikes of 5 to 6 miles. Are there hikes of this type in the area or in a nearby national park. Thank you.

La Campana National Park would be the closest to Valparaíso. It is good for day hikes. If you Google there is quite a lot of information. If you want an early start, staying a night in Olmue gets you much closer, or there are hiking tours offered with transportation to the park from Valpo or even Santiago. If you don't have your own transport, then I would look at what tours are offered.
Thank you. We are more apt to rent a car and drive and hike on our own if that is easy. Otherwise it's great to know that tours are available. I'd love to do to Torres del Paine but I think the hiking would be too difficult for us. Would you agree.? Also do you know how far it is from Val?
TdP is much too far, unless you fly. Where does your cruise stop? You can get a lot of exercise in Valparaiso itself, trekking up and down all the hills!
