planning trip rio/iguazu/ buenos aires. Thinking of a pvt tour guide in rio esp due to safety issues. Advise-how unsafe rio is compared to other cities. Recommendations re reasonably priced pvt tour guide who has access to a car for 3 to 5 people: this daniel cabral is plastered all over trip advisor but no sample fees / even on his web site. There is an afro-brazilian- Carlos on a list of tour guides from trip advisor-but not much of anything else. Advise please thx

Here's a recent discussion of private guides in which I recommended a driver/guide we booked in February of this year (I include pricing info)

Lots of discussion about the safety issues which most agree upon return from Rio were overstated (so long as you practice all the sensible precautions of travel in a large city)

THANKS: unfortunately I cant find any estimate of Rafa's fees for an 8 hour day, so I have an idea before communicating with him. Can you give an approximation. thx
We booked Raifa but he substituted someone else who was great :

We paid $150, three years ago, for car and driver for a day. Relax and enjoy beautiful Rio.
