Question on driving from Trelew to Punta Tomba - how long?

We will be arriving to Trelew from El Calafate at around 12:30 in the afternoon

Do we have enough time to rent a car and drive to Punta Tomba on that day and come back to Trelew for a night stay? How long does it take to drive from Trelew to Punta Tomba?
We will have 2.5 days around that area, so I am thinking on how to best plan them.
If we had enough time to drive to Punta Tomba on arrival day, we would have the remaining two days for Peninsula Valdes.
