I have the opportunity to stay at the Zuana Beach Resort in Santa Marta for a week in December. Not even sure where to begin since I've never been to South America. Any ideas?! We're good adventurers, like scuba diving, massages, experiencing local culture and laying out on the beach. I'd like any ideas on things to do, places to eat, etc.

From Santa Marta, you'd want to spend at least a day in Tayrona Park. If your going for the day, leave EARLY since it is a long trip. Also take a trip up to Minca about 45 minutes into the hills from Santa Marta. It's a nice little village surrounded by rain forest.
Back in Santa Marta, go to Playa Salguero, just to the west of the Rodadero tourist area. It's a nice beach and one of the few areas that's not built up with hotels and apartments.
