In a few weeks our family of four will be travelling from the US to Ecuador (Quito and highlands) and then fly from Quito to Bogota and then immediately fly on to Santa Marta. Not clear on the current status of needing to show yellow fever certificate at the airport as we pass through. Might we be asked? Also, might we asked to show at Tayrona park entrance?
Thanks so much for any advice!

Two years ago when we were in Bogota We got our yellow fever shots, and I remember that we were asked to show the certificate at the airport in our way to Santa Marta. We also went to the Tayrona park and we did not have to show the certificate.
So, I will recommend you to get your shots and carry with you your certificate. Just in case.
Good to know. Thanks for sharing your experience and recommendation.
Hi,
We've never been asked for such certificate at the airport in Bogota, but rather at the airport in Australia on our way back. Having said that, you can get your yellow fever shots at the airport in Bogota as there is an infirmary there and you can get your certificate there too. If you don't want to risk it and avoid hassles, I would concur with Colombia1 and get them beforehand.
cheers,

Hello EandC20,

You can get your yellow fever shot in the airport and it should be free. (The colombian government pays for it).
However, I have travelled back in forth from Bogota to Santa Marta and even into Tayrona and the Sierra Nevada and have never been asked for it.
That begin said, Yellow Fever has a 50% mortality rate so it is very advisable to be vaccinated.
Hope that helps!
Daniel
