I had posted this a month or so ago on the Europe forum but it gained no traction. The scheme has been hatched, and it sounded so easy at first. We've decided on a mother-daughter-(and possibly dog) road trip in Europe this summer in lieu of summer camps and lazy days at the local pool. The challenge now is deciding where to go, so I'm asking for suggestions from Fodorites before we just throw a dart at the map. Here are the established travel parameters:
1. As a family we have traveled to several of Europe's major cities, but are not opposed to seeing any place again, except for Istria, where we will be over the school spring holiday; and Prague, where we just spent a week during winter break. And of course Vienna, where we live. One idea proposed by our daughter was to plan a trip from Vienna to Barcelona and back, in a circle somehow.
2. We desire not to drive more than 3-4 hours (tops) each day unless it works in the itinerary. We are driving our personal vehicle, so we have that flexibility.
3. The trip will begin sometime after school is dismissed, mid June. We need to be back home to Vienna not later than 1 August. Whether we travel for one week or six is flexible, but I think two to three weeks might be just right.
4. Family-friendly, and dog-friendly non-hotel lodging suggestions would be welcome, as well. Neither of us are keen on hotels, preferring B&B or houses/flats to rent. Our daughter turns 12 this summer, so we don't need very young child lodging.
5. We're aiming for a budget-friendly trip, but no campgrounds.
6. As for activities, we pretty much like to do everything. Hence this problem.
Thank you, in advance.

If you didn't get 'traction' on the Europe forum you'll likely get even less here. I know, less than zero isn't much
I just looked at that other thread. One problem may be that it isn't tagged for any specific countries and many Fodorites only look for threads about countries they know well.
But I also notice you didn't do anything to help the situation. Once a general thread sinks down (and isn't tagged for a country(s) ) there is little chance it will ever be found.
If I were you - I'd go to your original thread and top it to give folks a chance to see it.
As janisj says, I think there's about 4 of us read this branch (lol). Try posting again on Europe. Or I'll go 'top' it for you.
Drive to Amsterdam. Lots to see and do in the area. Overnight in Amsterdam.
