We are planning a trip in early fall driving up to the Finger Lakes region, Niagara Falls, then on to Montreal and Quebec City. We have about 10 days and aren't sure how to divide our time. We have some tentative reservations which can be changed. Right now the plan is 2 nights in a B&B not too far from the Corning Glass Museum and Watkins Glen. We want to have time to see Watkins Glen, Corning and tour some wineries in the area. From there we are planning on heading to Niagara Falls and have booked the Embassy Suites for one night (not sure if we need longer). We were told to also go to Niagara on the Lake. Then we were planning on spending 3 nights in Montreal, 3 nights in Quebec City, then head back home. We would love some suggestions on how long to stay at each location or anything else we might have time to add to this trip, and any details on places to stay, things to do, etc.

We visited the Corning Glass Museum in May - it was well worth the visit.
We stayed in a b&b in Niagara on the Lake and loved it. It is a neat little community.
I assume you know that you need a passport or passport card to get back into the USA.
We loved Quebec City - we stayed in the old town. The hotel was probably overpriced but we could park the car and didn't need it for the days we were there.
I think 1 or 2 night at Niagara Falls is long enough. Not sure about Montreal but 3 nights in Quebec City would be good.
On our return from Quebec City we drove down through New Hampshire and Vermont - forget just now how the highway went. You may find something to see there - like at Conway or North Conway by Mount Washington. A night there would be great instead of 3 nights in Montreal.
We have heard great things about the Corning Glass Museum and Niagara on the Lake. I think we will add a night to Niagara but don't want to be moving around too much so may just add to the night at the Falls. I heard Niagara on the Lake is a short drive from there. Unless we can see both in a one night stay??
Yes we know to bring our passports. We were thinking 3 nights in Quebec City would be good. Where did you stay or do you have other suggestions? We heard parking the car may be difficult.
We were thinking it might be nice to stop somewhere on the way home instead of driving straight back - we have to make it all the way back to the Philly area. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hotel Le Clos St-Louis We stayed at this hotel. They did not have breakfast when we stayed there. I read tripadvisor and the reviews say they have breakfast now.
Our room had a separate air conditioning unit that was very quiet and very efficient. It was very hot in Quebec when we were there so the a/c was appreciated.
Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac We took a tour of this famous hotel - it was about one block from where we stayed. If you could afford it, it would be a really nice place to stay.
If you have to cancel your reservation with the Embassy Suites make sure you have a cancellation number. When I cancelled I stupidly did not get a number. The charge showed up on my credit card. I argued with them and they reduced the rate by one-half. I personally will never stay in one of their hotels again. There are too many great hotels to stay in.
We were in New England in May. On our way back to WI we stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites in ST Johnsbury VT. I ordinarily don't care for Comfort Suites but this hotel was great.
