You have chosen the right time to visit this national park. In hot months you can see most animals as they come out to search for water and food. To get more ideas about Ranthambore national park refer this link : http://goindia.about.com/od/wildlife/p/Ranthambore.htm
My son was actually living and working in India several years ago when my daughter and I came to visit him. One of the places we visited while vacationing over there was Ranthambore. We had taken the train there from Jaipur. He had us staying at the $30 a night family state hostel right at the park's edge. I was leery when he told us where we were staying but it turned out to be really a great spot with a lovely restaurant. We had three twin beds with our own bathroom,TV,etc.overlooking a back garden. The three of us were the only "westerners" but the place was very clean and had alot of amenities for the money.
The jeeps for the safaris picked up right out front of the hostel and my kids also ended up hiking from the hotel back into the park the next day on their own.
The highlight of the trip there was the three of us hitchiking on the back of a camel driven rice cart into town-seriously felt like a movie star with everyone waving to us.The park is beautiful and "I think" we might have seen a tiger?
