HI everyone,
Looking for some ideas from wednesday July 4 through the sunday. We have 5 kids - 14,12,11,8, 4months.
We were thinking cape cod, nantucket area if north, or if south then delaware beaches or going for a loop drive through williamsburgh then on to N or S carolina. We have been to ocean city, MD, VA beach, OBX, Jersey shore and looking for something different. It does not have to be a beach vacation, but looking for some ideas. Budget is not a huge issue, but we recently decided to go for the trip so we are pretty last minute here.
hoping for something pretty nice but with plenty to do for the kiddos.
thanks for any ideas!
Joe

I would think that finding lodging for your family at this late date and with a broken week (many shore areas only rent by the week) will be the factor that decides where to go. If you start looking immediately and come up with some places that have availability, then folks will be better able to help you decide.
Hi Joe,
There are plenty of things to do up in Massachusetts that has nothing to do with Boston. In Western Mass, there is Six Flags, Basketball Hall of Fame, Springfield Armory Museum, Springfield Museum (with Dr. Seuss), the beautiful Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Butterfly Conservatory, Yankee Candle...I could go on and on. You are sure to find local fairs going on as well and lodging is certainly much cheaper than a beach vacation. Also, lots of ways to get discounts and coupons (with 5 kids, you need that). Let me know if you'd like more info.
Don't forget your neighbors up north

emalloy is right. You could try for something in the NC -VA mountains. It might be more than 8 hours though.
