Can anyone tell me if there is any 55+ active communities in this area. We are in our early 50's so are not really interested in senior living areas.
Are these safe, low crime areas? Any information would be appreciated.

I can't speak to Austin but in general people move into over 55 communities when they are over 65. New communities have a younger overall population, while communities that are over 10 years old, have a population closer to 75.
The only 55+ community that I know of near Austin is Sun City in Georgetown. Can't understand why you would want to live in a 55+ community in your early 50's (or ever), but to each his own.
Venus968,
There is one community in Georgetown, which is in the greater Austin area. Here's a link with more information on the community called Sun City Texas:

There are many more communities throughout the Texas area in safe, low crime areas if you're willing to consider areas such as Houston or Dallas.
Good luck with your search!
