Headed up to the White Mts for 3 nights with my two boys (2 and 3), my parents, my sister, her boyfriend, and my hubby (oops, left him for last!).
On the way up, we stopped to "hike" Diana's Baths. This is a really easy walk...you can do it in flip-flops if you really wanted to. It ends at some cascading waterfalls with pools of water to swim in. My boys loved it here and had a blast scrambling over the rocks and playing in the water.
Then it was time to check into our cottage. We stayed at Perry's Motel and Cottages in Intervale. It was okay. It's very basic lodging...and small. The rooms are clean, but very dated. It appears they have been making improvements...some new windows, roofs, etc. But there are still things that need updating. The grounds are nice...two playgrounds, a pool, grills, etc. And it's nice to be on a quiet street and not have to worry about letting the kids just run around wild. Would I stay here again? Not sure. I'd rather be there than in a small motel on the main road. But if I had to do it again, I'd probably choose one of the inns nearby.
Dinner: headed to Taste of Thai in North Conway. This was pretty solid Thai food. Service was a tad slow, but the food was good. My boys enjoyed the shrimp dumplings and the chicken lo mein. My husband liked his duck dish very much. I had beef massaman curry...I've had better, but this was good.
Day 2 - Storyland: this park is definitely geared towards the preschool crowd. It's clean, the staff is courteous....but the rides are boring. I can't imagine going here with kids over 5.
Day 3 - Santa's Village: LOVE this place! We went on Father's Day and the crowds weren't bad at all. The park is very clean and they have updated a lot of buildings recently. My boys love finding all the elves for the "elf-abet game". You can get rings made, decorate gingerbread cookies, listen to caroles, buy ornaments. It's just a lot of fun. And the rides are more exciting than Storyland. Plus, Santa's Village has a great water section....so bring your bathing suits!
Dinner: pizza from Brennan's. This place is awful. It has great reveiws online, so we though we'd try it. The reviews must be from friends and family. The pizza is edible, and that's about it. The crust is dry and hard and the sauce is bland. They claim to be NY style...no way!
Day 4 - breakfast at Peach's. This was a solid breakfast. They have omelets, pancakes, quiche, muffins, etc. The only downside...they charge $1.75 for real maple syrup. Come on people, we are in NH. Real maple syrup should be standard. Have some pride!
Conway Scenic RR - did the 55 minute train ride. My 2 year old had a blast, 3 year old was moody. It's not super scenic, but it's fun and the perfect length for little kids. The longer train ride may have better views.
Zeb's General Store...fun place to buy candy, glass bottled soda, syrup, etc.
5 and 10 - haven't been to a 5 and dime in years! Boys bought some trucks.
A quick jaunt to the White Mts.

Just realized that was kind of an abrupt ending....
Anyway, love the White Mountains.
We live in NH and still haven't been to Diana's baths. We should take our GDs. They love Storyland. We took them to the Montshire Museum last week which they enjoyed (esp the water part) but DH thought they were a little young (5 and 7) for the educational stuff.
Glad you had a great time.
