A couple of us decided to head to DC for the weekend to get out of town. We took Metro North into NYC to catch Bolt Bus.
Boarding felt like a disorganized Cattle Call and then we were packed in like sardines. It really is just for a budget oriented traveler. I will stick with Amtrak from now on.
We got into DC on time and went straight to the hotel to drop our bags off. Then we went to the Air and Space Museum.. Really enjoy it and stayed till closing. We had intended on going to the Capitol Steps but were starting to drag. Did I mention that we had to leave home at 5am? So we headed to the Dubliner for dinner and drinks. Really enjoyed it again.
Got up early Sunday and headed to the Monuments via a cab from our hotel. He dropped us off at the Lincoln Memorial. We almost had it to ourselves. What a great time to go down there. Weather was very nice. Left the WW2 memorial and headed to the National Archives. What a treasure that place is. Left there and went to Ford's Theater. Really enjoyed it and probably spent more time there than was necessary. Stopped at the Hard Rock for a few beers and then went to Gordon Biersch for a few more beers. Then we walked over to the White House and then dragged ourselves back to our hotel.
Got up this morning and went to the Iwo Jima monument. What a great view of Dc from there. After that, it was a reversal for transportation. Felt like something out of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles".
We stayed at the Americana again. Definitely not a luxury hotel but its clean, safe and quiet with a great rate.
A very quick trip to Washington, DC

Thank you for the endorsement of Amtrak. I will not get on a bus to a city that is served by Amtrak. Was the Metro shut down on Sunday?
No. Not even 1 snowflake...thankfully.
