If anyone one the board lives in Charlotte I could use your advice. Tomorrow I am traveling from the coast up 77 to 81 and on up to NY area. I hate to get stuck in the morning rush hour in Charlotte and was planning on driving through about 7:30 AM but a friend says that will be in the thick of it. When do the roads get less clogged with the morning commuters?
Thanks.
AM traffic in Charlotte?

77 is virtually always crowded because it is undersized for a city our size. 7:30 is fairly early, especially during a week when a lot of people aren't coming into work, but I'd still probably take I-485 around the city reconnecting with 77 north of town. It's not that many more miles and should be smoother sailing.
Going north isn't that bad probably, and Brian is probably correct, in case you are able to read this en route.
Thanks for the info....we used 485 got on about 7:30 and made great time. Did not know it was completed uo to 77.
